Inspiration - Where does yours come from?

Ask any crafter and they will tell you that it can come from anywhere.  A quilt cover in John Lewis or the pattern on a gift bag in a shop window?  Perhaps from an article in a magazine?  More often than not though a crafters inspiration comes from another crafter.

It may be an element on a scrap page or on a card, you just never know when inspiration will take place.

Las year I took part in a Card Candy Swap with some other Demo’s over on the ILWS website.  It was designed for those going to Stampin’ Up! convention.  Unfortunately I didn’t get to go but the lovely Sara offered to be my Card Candy buddy and take the 10 packs that I was to make over with her to swap with the others involved.  I got some truly fabulous Card Candy back.

One of which inspired me to make the following card.

It’s made using the fabulous Everything Eleanor Stamp Set.  I love the middle label that lends to the focal of the card.  This inspiration was taken from one of the Card Candy Elements form the following set made by Lindsey Mortimer and fellow Demonstrator.  Aren’t they fabulous?

So what about you?  Where do you get inspiration from?  Do you have fellow crafters that just inspire you tons?  Or do you find inspiration from things you see while shopping?

So next time you see something that inspires you, take a picture or a sketch, as you’ll be sure to make something from it!

Back Soon.

Happy Crafting!

Card Class

At our recent card class the girls got to make 4 fabulous cards and a matching box.

Now I would like to be able to take credit for the box but alas no, I didn’t design the actual making of the box but I did decorate it Smile  The box was designed by Bekka.  I just love the fact that all it takes is 1 sheet of A4 cardstock and some scoring!  Isn’t it fab?

The envelope attached is from the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Envelope Die.

The papers we used are from the current Sale-a-Bration Set, Everyday Enchantment!  These Designer Series Papers are just gorgeous in real life!

The postage stamp is from the Fresh Vintage SAB Stamp Set and was punched out using the Postage Punch.

We made 4 cards to go in our boxes…

Punched hearts allow you to see the DSP papers behind the Pool Party cardstock mat.  The greeting is from the Curly Cute stamp set…

The Pool Party hearts punched from the first card was used on this card.  Some Calypso Coral ruffled ribbon lays behind some of the DSP.

Punched flowers add depth and dimension to this simple card.  This is a great card to make and leave without a greeting until such times that you need a card in a hurry and can add a suitable greeting.

I really hope you have enjoyed these cards today.  There’ll be another cad class very soon.

Everything you see used here can be either purchased from our catalogues and SAB products can be earnt through placing an order of £45 or more.  Don’t forget for every £45 that you spend you can chose one of the SAB items. email me today to place your order at sassystampers@gmail.com

Take care.

Happy Crafting’!

Vellum….Very under-used!

Well as it says - Vellum, very under-used.  And it is…well in my craft stash this is.

The card I have here today rectifies that.  Well in a small way that is.  I’m starting small and will work my way up to something a little bigger.

DSC02250

The card base is pool party, with a whisper white mat, followed by a Lucky limeade mat which I have punched the corners on using the Scallop Trim Corner punch. I used the fabulous Charming Stamp set from the current mini catalogue to stamp the stem in Basic Grey on the Lucky limeade mat.

image              image

Using the same stamp (once I had cleaned it) I inked it up using my In Color marker sin Lucky Limeade and Pool Party (love Pool Party!!!), and stamped onto the piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I then inked up the Inspire, Create, Share stamp from the same set in Basic grey and stamped this over the top.

On a piece of Velum cardstock I re-inked and re-stamped my stem image and secure this to the Whisper White with some Mini Silver Brads.

DSC02252

I added a little of the Pool Party ruffled ribbon behind this and mounted it onto some Basic grey cardstock.  This was then added to the middle of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you liked my little creation today?

Check ack soon for more ideas.

Happy crafting!
