A modern Christmas Card

Now as much as I love the traditional style Christmas cards, once in a while it is great to go a little in the other direction and use modern styles or colours.

DSC01966

The colours are Melon Mambo, Concord Crush and Old Olive. I stamper the bauble images from the Tree Trimmings stamp set in Concord crush onto Whisper White and cut out.

The two bottom layers have been edged with the Scallop Trim Border. To finish it off Old Olive Striped Grosgrain.

The hanging string has been embossed in gold directly onto the base card. The baubles attached with Stampin Dimensionals and a Basic Rhinestone for a touch of bling.

Hope you like it.

Pop back soon.  Well on the 1st October for some very exciting project made with goodies from the new Idea Book & Catalogue.

Take Care

Gift Card holders?? – It’s a Big Shot!

Now come on, How many times have you bought Gift Cards for family or friends and just wished that it looked like you put more thought or effort into the gift?  I know I have.  And sometimes due to the distance we all live from our families and the cost of posting items a gift card is the best option isn’t it?

Well at a recent training event we made this fabulous gift card holder that can either be put inside (handmade) birthday card or could even be the birthday card and gift card holder!

Top Note File

It’s made mainly with the Big Shot top Note, various punches and embellishments like Ribbon, elasticated thread, brads and Dimensionals.

The inside had little pockets for the Gift Card….

If I get enough interest I'll put together a tutorial for this project for you.  Let me know.

Don’t forget you can order any of the items used here through me.

It’s all about the Garden…

Well I don’t know about you, but I love the garden when it’s in bloom.  All the beautiful spring &  summer flowers that we have!  Unfortunately though Spring and Summer are still a way off, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have flowers!
I love this card!  It’s made using the beautiful Cottage Garden Stamp set (Page 53 IB&C 2010-2011) and the coordinating Designer Series Papers Sunny Garden.
Cottage Garden 1
The Cottage Garden Stamp set is a Two-Step stampin’ set, and should be used in conjunction with the Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure that the dark outlines for the flowers sit perfect to the lighter background colour on the flowers.  Only I couldn’t put my hands on mine while making this card, but to be honest, I quite like the bit of white showing through.
I stamped the greeting on another piece of DSP and punched it out using the Extra Large Oval punch (No 17, Page 105 IB&C 2010-2011).  I love the versatility of the DSP.
A touch of Gold Elastic Cord (Page 96 IB&C 2010-2011) and there you go, a little bit of  Summer Garden.

One for the Men, Sale-a-Bration Style

Well I don’t know about you but I often find it hard to make a men's card.  Not because Stampin’ Up! hasn’t got anything for the men, but just because there are so many pretty colours, ribbons, bling…Did I say ribbon?

So I set myself a goal to produce a men's card that incorporated ribbon and a little bit of bling!

And here it is…..

HAppy Birthday SAb Punch Bunch

I used Marina Mist ink for the Scallop Square from the Punch Bunch SAB set, and punched it out with the Scallop Square Punch – I just love our punches!

The cardstock is Marina Mist, Whisper White and Certainly Celery.  I added Certainly Celery 5/8” Grosgrain Ribbon across the centre of the Marina Mist piece of card and wrapped the ends around the back to neaten off the edges.  I think flat strips of ribbon or a knot of ribbon does work well on a  card for a man rather than ruffles or bows.

Using the Corner Rounder punch (No 41 Page 106 IB&C 2010-2011) i rounded off 3 out of the 4 corners on all of my cardstock.  And in the bottom right hand corner just a small touch of Bling from the Rhinestone Jewels (Page 99 IB&C 2010-2011).

So there you have it, a mans card with ribbon & bling!

Don’t forget you can get hold of any of the products that I have used here through me.  Contact me at anytime to place your order.

More Scraps Creations

Hello again,
I recently told you about my raiding my scraps box, where I my inspiration for my card came from some little bits of Lap of Luxury DSP.  Well I made 2 other cards from those bits and here is the next one.

I really really love the colour combinations of the DSP.  It’s just so yummy!
This is such a simple card and yet would make a fabulous gift card or a cute wedding card.

From Scraps With Love

Every now and then I have moments when I feel the need to raid my scraps box and make something.  It’s my justification of why I keep all those little scraps and off cuts of paper and card.

And today’s card is one of those moments.  I had some left over 3.5” x 1.5” pieces of Lap of Luxury Designer Series Paper (DSP) that was left over from a project. I know, I know.  Why on earth would you keep bits that small you ask.

So I can make something like this…..

Hearts 1

I just love the colours together.  Concord Crush, Pretty in Pink, Basic Grey & Very Vanilla.  Very yummy colours together.

I used the Heart to Heart punch to punch the hearts out of the DSP and attached those onto Concord Crush with Glue Dots.  The Happy Birthday is from the Perfect Punches Stamp set with a rhinestone on the dot of the i.  I really love the touch of bling these fabulous rhinestones give to projects.

I had more hearts left over and will make a a couple more cards and post them up soon.

Convention & Training Swaps 2010–Part 3 Christmas

How many times have you bought bottles of wine as presents for workmates, your staff or even the milkman?  It’s so easy just to pop it into a bottle bag or roll some Christmas wrapping paper isn’t it? Well how about making  this cute bottle tag.
DSC01031
This was a swap with  Lisa Runnalls at the Stampin’ Up! Convention this year.
Don’t you just love Rudolph? Lisa used the Two Step Bird punch to make Rudolph’s antlers, the large oval for the face and circles punches for the body & nose.

Convention & Training Swaps 2010–Part 1

Part of being an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is being able to attend some fabulous training events and of course Convention during the course of the year.

Not only do you learn new business ideas and take part in Make ‘n’ Takes, but you get to meet some wonderfully talented Demonstrator's from around the UK, and at Convention, from Europe.  Lots of Demonstrators take part in Swaps whether they be General or Organised.  The wonderful creations that these people come up with never ceases to astound me.

A while ago I started to share some of these fabulous creations with you. Now the madness of preparing for Christmas is out of the way I plan to carry on sharing.  Over several posts I will share more of these swaps that I have received from these fabulous people with you.  And wherever possible I will credit those that created them.

This fabulous Christmas Card was made by Sue White.  I do not have a website for Sue but will be happy to add it.

Look at the fabulous use of the Two-Step Bird Punch to make the robins. Gorgeous isn’t it?

Greenhouse Gala Birthday

Isn’t it gorgeous?  I just love this card.
DSC00886
The flowers have been cut out of one of the 12 x 12 inch sheets from the Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Papers (DSP), and adhered to Early Espresso cardstock mat.  I used Gold Elastic Thread (Page 96 in the IB&C) to tie around the Early Espresso cardstock.
The greeting is stamped in Early espresso on Whisper White Cardstock, using the Happy Birthday stamp from the Perfect Punches stamp set.  I punched this out with the Extra Large Oval punch and mounted it onto the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I then mounted all of this directly onto a Whisper White greeting card.
I think the Gold Elastic Thread just sets this card off.  It’s an essential for your craft room and just shows it’s not just for Christmas!

Card Swap - Punches

I recently took part in a “Card Swap” with other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators.  A card swap is where a number of you agree to make a card or just a card front using specific colours, accessories, tools or technique.

The swap theme was punches, and as this was the first time I had ever done this, it seemed like the perfect theme to get into.  After all I have a ton of them!  So I made up enough card fronts with the “ingredients” on a label on the back for everyone involved in the swap, and sent them off to Pat who organised it all.  When everyone had sent theirs in, Pat kindly sorted them all out and sent us all our set of wonderful, varied and inspiring card fronts!

This is my card front:-
